El Emisario in Playa Blanca

El Emisario is a divesite in Playa Blanca in the south of Lanzarote. There are 2 extensive tubes that make orientation very easy and mark entry and exit. The dive guides you along a massive lava tongue down to max. 18m. This lava formation is used as a haven for many species that represents the fauna of the Canaries.

This divesite in Playa Blanca is popular with a variety of species of rays and angel sharks. Pay particular attention to the many overhangs and crevices which often play host to beautiful anemones, cleaner shrimp, moray eels and slipper lobster. At the end of the rock is a small cliff, where you can find dusky grouper, moray eel, island grouper and the majority of the collective sea life in the Canaries. The contrast between the rock and the sand allows you to see species from both environments at a depth less than 20 meters!

Playa Coloradas
Las Coloradas looks like a long bridge (puente) across the sea bed that lies at around 16 meters depth.

From the dropping point, you can dive in either direction, keeping the ´wall´ on either your left or right side. The topography of the rock formations were sculpted by the lava flows that were once dominant on the island, making it a really popular place for morays and shrimps to hideout!

There are marvelous anemones and a break through as well, which gives you great opportunities for pictures.

Being quite a shallow boat dive with a maximum of only 18m, makes Las Coloradas an excellent dive for both experienced divers and beginners.

Atlantic Museum

The Atlantic Museum is the first underwater art museum in Europe. It is situated in front of the coast in Playa Blanca and can be accessed only with a boat.

You descend on a safety buoy, which makes it accessible for beginners as well. The guide will take you along a given route, which leads you to a max. depth of 17m in approx. 45min. You will see a large artificial reef formed by sculptures made with neutral pH concrete that over time encourages a variety of life to grow on them. Every statue has its own story to tell and is symbolic of a topical commentary on society today. Our specially trained Eco Dive Guides will give you further details to the meaning of the different statues.

Atlantic Museum

It is not allowed to touch the statues, as they are covered already in marine life. Jason de Caires Taylor, the artist who built this museum, wants to highlight the bond between art and nature. His intention is to make visitors more aware of the importance of the sea and all of its natural resources.

The Atlantic Museum offers not only statues but also a lot of marine life. Triggerfish, angelsharks and big shoals of fish live in the area surrounding the dive site.
